The Pests and Biodiversity portfolio is focused on protecting significant biodiversity assets and limiting the impact of pests on production. The portfolio guides the strategic direction for pest and biodiversity work programmes, ensuring that programmes are integrated across council activities. The Regional Pest Management Strategy and the Canterbury Biodiversity Strategy are key strategic documents that guide the way we work, both internally and externally.
Implementation of these strategies is managed by different sections within Environment Canterbury, including: Biosecurity, Resource Care, and Environmental Quality and Hazards.
