The Secretariat Section is the officer team that provides democracy services for Environment Canterbury. The Secretariat is responsible for supporting Council and Councillors in both their Governance and Management roles. This includes responsibility for the meeting process and to ensure that the Council and its Committees are adhering to the legislation requirements.
The Manager of the Secretariat is the Council Secretary, who advises on requests for information under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act and is the Council Privacy Officer.
The Secretariat also provides executive administrative support to the Directorate team and undertakes some corporate procurement functions: cafeteria services, travel/accommodation, stationery and advertising, and managing the opening of tenders.
