Environment Canterbury works with land occupiers to ensure that pest plants and animals are controlled.
Pest plants and animals are those that threaten land production, land management and the environmental values people place on production and recreational resources. The Biosecurity Act enables the Council to eradicate or manage pest plants and animals as specified in regional pest management strategies. Biosecurity Manager
Graham Sullivan is responsible for how the policies in the Regional Pest Management Strategy are implemented. He works from Timaru but has responsibility for the whole region.
The Biosecurity Section is organised into 3 teams:
Northern
